12th April 11 AM - Gurgaon, INDIA

One of my very close friend was admitted in hospital after being diagnosed of

3rd ventricular brain tumor.
Patient has been complaining of mild to moderate headaches since last three

months.Vision had deteriorated from 6/6 in both eyes to L 6/12 and R 6/18.
Subj: Enlargement of Tumor after Right MRVP Shunt was done.Surgery canceled

because of faulty apparatus

Sir
One day after the person was admitted a right MRVP shunt surgery was carried

out by the surgeons.
CT scan followed this process and the tumor was found to have enlarged from

its earlier size of 3.8 x 4.1 cms.
Surgery was preponed to the very next day on 11th April from earlier decided

date of 15th April.

The surgery was to happen on a sitting state. On 11th April patient was

brought into OT and was given anesthesia. Few minutes later, before the

surgery started it was aborted because of some faulty instrument used to keep

the head stationary(calles may-something).Patient was moved to ICU is being

monitored till now.

When we asked the doctor he said that we are arranging for the instrument as

we do not have its backup.he also said that the instrument is imported from

Germany but we are trying to get it fixed through local service centers.

The patient is still in ICU. The doctor is saying that he will wait till

Monday and if the instrument is not fixed , he will refer some other place

and in contrast to his earlier statement he is now saying it is not an

emergency situation

I want to save my friend's life, who at this point of time is fighting with

life and death.

I need suggestions and advise on further action.

Should we wait till 15th April, till doctor tells us whether the instrument

has been arranged and whether the surgery should be done
OR
Should we move the patient to a better facility ensuring a quick surgery ,

say by today itself.

Is the doctor right by saying that this is not a emergency or is he trying to

cover the hospital's fault.

PLEASE HELP

**All I am trying is to get the best advice for my friend, no harmful

intentions for the facility in question**
