A typical endometriosis

by Megiz, Apr 14, 2008 01:09PM
Hello everyone.
I didn't know which cateogry to put this in so hope I haven't got it wrong. I got diagnosed with endo in January this year. I saw the specialist at beginning of this month and he told me when looking at the photos that it was a typical and that there were fissions(?).
I've googled a typical endo and have been a little worried because from what I can see it gives you an increased risk of ovarian cancer. Is this true? Also, can a Dr tell its a typical from photos? Also, it said on what I read that people should be monitered if it is a typical. Is this something they do do?
I'm having surgery on 6th May and a mirena coil fitted.
I'm quite scared in some ways about all of this but especially about the a typical thing.
If any one could give me any advice or information whatsoever I would be so grateful
M xx
p.s the Dr who did the laparoscopy to diagnose me did some lazer surgey to release my ovary from being stuck to something - wondered if that had a bearing on the above.

I had really bad endometriosis and had to have it removed.  I had the same feelings, I was so afraid of it being cancer. My doctor and others reassured me that endometriosis was pretty common in females and that rarely is it cancer.  I know it's easier said then done but, try not to stress out too much.  The internet can work both ways, it can be reassuring and nerve wrecking.  Good luck next week.
