9cm lump that a "little dirty"

by LilMsHele, Apr 14, 2008 06:28PM
I had a mamogram and ultrasound today, in the right breast there are 2 lumps, one is 5cm and just below that there is a  3cm lump. On my left breast there is a much larger lump, 9cm. I've had the lumps for about 2 months, I do not have insurance, and didn't know what options there were. However, I did find a resourse and they set up the mammogram and ultrasound. The Radiologist, said that the lumps are very large and that both the mammogram and ultrasound were a "little dirty". He said he is pretty sure that they are just hard fatty tissue, he didn't think a  biopsy or MRI would tell him any different and would just be added expense, and to come back in 6 weeks to see if there is any change in them. Is this typical practice? Should I worrie about the lumps or waiting to see if they spread or get any bigger? Since I have no insurance, I don't know what to do.

I'm not sure what to say here but I hate to think the lack of Ins. is a factor. It might very well be though. The 6 weeks wait doesn't sound too unreasonable since you've had thee lunps for a couple of months. I personally would doubt that anything that large that appeared that fast would be cancer. I believe I would wait the 6 weeks but not accept any more waiting without an answer as to what is going on. An answer that pus your mind at ease !! If in the meantime you could find some way to be seen by a surgeon or breast specialist that would be a good thing. Try the Amer. Cncer society orThe susan G. Komen Foundation to see if there might be some help available to you there. Best of luck .. don't give up the search.

Hi,

A breast lump is caused due to various causes - fibroadenoma, cyst, lipoma, lymph node being the most common causes.

Post us the mammogram and ultrasound reports when they come in.

Follow up with your doctor as advised and get repeat investigations as advised by your specialist.

Let us know if you have any other doubts and post us about how you are doing.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
