sores outside vagina

I've been having recurring sores outside my vagina for a while.  What could they be caused by and what will happen when I go for a doctor's appointment?

Hello,

Recurrent vaginal sores sound suspicious for genital herpes.  I suggest you be examined by your ob/gyn when you are symptomatic in order to be properly diagnosed.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
