Not myself

by lauren2169, Apr 14, 2008 09:15PM
Recently I was diagnosed with depression. My brother passed away in 12/06, and my family has not been the same since. I was prescirbed Sertraline (a generic brand of Zolaft), and after a couple of weeks I decided to stop taking it. The medicine mad me have no cares in the world, and nothing seemed to bother me. I hated the way it made me feel. I tried a range of different medicines and they all made me feel the same way. But, I am still suffering from the same ailments I had bfore I started any of these meds. I constantly fell tired, I feel as though I have no ambition to do anything, I have problems falling and staying asleep, I feel as though I cannot concentrate or focus on anything for any amount of time. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any herbs or some kind of medicine that could possibly help me out.

I think you should see a psychiatrist as they have a wealth of information at their disposal plus the expertise to put you on a medication that will work for you.  Antidepressants are highly personalized - what works for one person does not necessarily work for another.  Also, I think the best way to combat clinical depression is the combination of psychotherapy & meds if indicated.  I'm very sorry for your loss - I hope you can get the help you need.
