Any suggestions for good, healthy, and low cal snacks??

by whitlack, Apr 15, 2008 02:19PM
Hey girls!!!!  Just wandering if any of you have been more conscious of the things you are eating since you became pregnant??  I was just wandering what some of your favorite snacks to eat during those in between meal times when your starving and it is still like 3 hours before lunch or dinner!  I am talking low calorie, healthy, yet really good treats.  I love things like strawberries with low fat whipped cream, wheat crackers with cheese spread, low fat potato chips and dip, but I am getting tired of these same old snacks!  Any suggestions???  As you can tell I keep food on the brain!!!  Sometimes I even catch myself daydreaming about food and I don't want to stuff myself with fattening and non-nutritious foods.  I wanna become pregnant.....not a big fat cow!!!!  LOL!  Any ideas would be great!!!!!

Hi,

I have been addicted to pink grapefruit!  i've been eating 1 almost everyday.  Another snack i've been eating is Airpopped popcorn,  I pop it in the morning before i leave for work and it is great to snack on between breakfast and lunch.

Good luck

Hi there,

I've been eating lots of bananas or a handful of raw almonds (they really helped with my nausea) and I sometimes have a small carton of organic low fat chocolate milk that takes the edge off (and has lots of calcium). I've had some strange cravings too ... pickled beets and baked potato! Can't get enough of them!

Hope you are all doing well!

I'm a dietitian so weight gain is always on my mind.  I've been snacking on fruit, yogurt, hummus and shredded cheese on wheat crackers, popcorn, pistachios, almonds and sunflower seeds, dry cereals (Quaker Crunchy Corn Bran for the taste, fiber and folate).  Recently, I've been having a 50 calorie popscicle at night which has really been hitting the spot!!

I say enjoy pregnancy and eat ice cream or anything fun.  Yes still have healthy choices but don't treat this as a pregnancy diet.  Babies love DQ blizzards too, just ask my 3 year old.  He also loves peanut butter and jelly sandwiches because I ate those daily while pregnant.
