Corneal errosion?

Over the last two years I have had the following symptoms
1. Either one of my eyes would burn at around 3:00AM and I would wake up with pain.
2. My docs didn't diagnose it, and eventually they said it was :map dot fingerprint dystrophy", which is Conneal errosion, I was told.
3. They have tried micro-peircing (which can be done only at the time of the problem, because the doctor needs to see it to do the micro-piercing).
Right now I am using Restasis one drop twice daily, Genteal lubricant gel during the day and the night.
4. The problem comes and goes. When it hits, the eye is red and very sensitive to light.
Are there any permament procedures that have been succesfull?
Thanks,
Al

Stromal micropuncture and PTK (like lasik without the flap) have been advocated to treat resilient cases.  Talk to an ophthalmologist who is a corneal specialist and use lots of lubrication day and ointment at night in the meantime.
