for the last few months ive had a couple of spells where i appear to become in an awake state in the middle of the night, but i cannot move a muscle no matter how hard i try.  i used to just get stuck between waking up when i was smaller...  this is totally different... i hear this loud static noise in my head and my head gets very hot with blurry vision... it is starting to happen more often and it lasts longer everytime.  sometimes if i just lay there and dont fight it i become awake and normal... im getting worried because it keeps getting worse............. what do i do

Hi there.

You are not alone.  I've also experienced exactly what you are describing and I almost think I am going crazy.  I noticed that I experience this during heightened period of stress.  I don't know if there is a medical explanation for this but I think it is like having a nightmare or a bad dream.  A scientific thing that you can do is to consult a sleep doctor and arrange for a sleep study.  In this study they will observe you while you sleep and see if there is anything wrong.  Having this test may not sound any comforting but I think it's a good initial step forward.

For the meantime, avoid stress as much as possible and engage in recreation as you are able.  God bless and regards...
