Help with my RLS

by marcal, Apr 16, 2008 06:28AM
Hi everyone- I am looking for help my RLS. I am rather sensitive to medicines. I have had bad reaction to Mirapex and Requip. Currently I am taking neurotin, It doesnt seem to really help but at least I havent had any strange reaction. I have noticed my RLS acts up worse when the weather is changing. I have discussed this with my Neurologist but it doesnt seem to help. I also suffer from PLMD, chronic fatigue, insomnia, and hypothyroid issues. I am currently trying to increase my thyroid medication and it is giving me all the terrible side effects I fear.. such as night sweats, heart palpations, jitters, irrability. I am a joy to be around right. I feel misearble. I cannot seem to get the help I need. All I really want to is to sleep well and feel okay. Any help or suggestions is welcome.

I had all those symptoms and they all improved when my thyroid medication was optimised.  I got better on a T4/T3 combo.  I did not improve whatsoever on T4-only medication.

I found the longer I was taking the T3 the better I got and eventually the heart palps went ... after having them for more than 13 years!!  I think my adrenals were so bad that when they finally improved on the T3 that everything else started to improve.

The jumpiness went with the T3 as did the headaches, depression etc.  I'm not so irritable...but I do still go off at the drop of a hat.

What meds are you taking for thyroid.  I had RLS for years but didn't seek treatment for it....and I don't get it now.

Best wishes.  I know how miserable you can get with this.  Have you had a look at some thyroid sites with loads of info and files...such as stopthethyroidmadness.com??  There are others thyroid.org and about.com all have information which may help.
