Diabetic Diarrhea (Type 2 Diabetes)

by Sisteranita3, Apr 16, 2008 01:21PM
I have suffered from this complication for many years now.  I have tried Immodium, Pepto Bismol, Lomotil (presently) and Flagyl.  Flagyl was the only thing that worked, but only for the short time that the doctor gave it to me.  After that, the diarrhea returned and the Lomotil which I now take does nothing.  Initially with the Lomotil the diarrhea came after about 1 hour & only after I ate a full meal.  Now it takes various times and occurs even if I only eat a piece of fruit!!  My question is - could this be some other ailment, something which my Gastro man has not seen??  I do not want to continue on antibiotics too long since I know they would possibly become ineffective after a while.  I am at a loss.  Any help, suggestion or direction is greatly needed and dearly appreciated.

Well it's your lucky day because i have been in your exact situation and I have Type 2. So nothing would cure my Diarrhea until my doctor gave me a medicine called Golytely. It was a miracle drug....my diarrhea cleared up after a couple days of being on it....and the best part is I was able to discontinue it without the problems returning...remember that drug and ask your doctor if you might take a run of that...Golytely=Miracle lol :) Good luck!

MedHelp says :
Golytely - What is polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution?

Polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution is a laxative solution that increases the amount of water in the intestinal tract to stimulate bowel movements. This medication also contains potassium, sodium, and other minerals to replace electrolytes that are passed from the body in the stool.

Polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution is used to clean the bowel before colonoscopy, a barium x-ray, or other intestinal procedures.
