Dangerous?

I think I might have herpes. I am awaiting the test results from my doctor but she has prescribed Valtrex for me for the time being. I am wondering how contagious herpes really is. I know that you canget infected in the eyes, mouth and even skin. Should I be concerned about spreading my genital herpes to other areas of my own body? Can touching the infected area spread to other parts of your body, or should I not worry about this very much. I have been very cautious thus far in terms of keeping my hands clean and avoiding touching my mouth and eyes without clean hands. Please let me know the possibility of spreading to other areas of my body.

Once you have antibodies, this won't happen. You will get antibodies within a month to 6 weeks, most likely. It can take up to 4 months.
Just use common sense now - don't touch an outbreak and then touch your eyes, etc.
