How's your MD??

by nurse_cjm, Apr 16, 2008 08:33PM
I have had endo for about 10yrs..I have surg x2 and been on danizol and lupron...I go next week to have my 3rd surg not looking forward to that....my question is: Has anyone  had problems getting the pain meds you need when you need then.... I have been on percocet and soma for years and never had a problem with MD giving the meds to me.. I move around a lot..but I have all my med records and operative reports...anyways I have moved and am saying where i am for a bit...my new GP will not given me any meds that i have taken for years....what should i do about that??
the GYN that is doing my surg is not a  regular MD he is mostly for reproduction problems so after surg he will stop seeing me when my post op care is done...
So what should I tell my MD.....or should i just get a new one....and the funny thing is that I went to this MD because she had a back ground with well women care....i thought she would be up on the **** we go though with ENDO...
thanks for the vent .....
ENDO suck but you can live with it.....I know some days is dose not feel that way...

I know how you feel,I recently changed dr's, and have endo, the pain is a curse! my old dr would give me 10-15 darvocets for my periods, sometimes vicodins if the pain was bad enough, but it is to the point neither help or work, only percocet. My new dr told me to take Ibuprofan..haha,obviously she dont know the pain and that Ibuprofan wont help.
I think the dr's main concern is addiction, which is understandable.I'm tired of living on pain pills,I just want it all took out! and too many pain pills will cause liver/kidney damage..but when your in pain and want relief you dont think about the conquences of long term pain pill use.I recently started Lybrel birth control to see if it helps, are you on any birth control? it might help to control the pain.Good luck to you

Hi,

I began seeing a new OBGYN few years ago. She did not want to script me many pills. I explained that my pain was legit and that it needed to be dealt with. I requested a referral to a pain clinic- which I was given. A pain management doctor is probably what you need. Why not ask for the referral? I was lucky and mine was right in the same hospital.

Also- on the down side due to how long I am in pain each month and the length of time that I was on pain pills- I did become addicted. I stopped taking the pills 1/08. Please be careful and I hope that you feel better.
