Does this happen a lot?

Hello went to see my Endo yesterday who has scheduled me in for a FNA biopsy today. He explained about the process and how it works and success rates etc. However what I was hoping for was a solution to why I feel so ill all the time, because my blood levels are normal he was unable yo give me anything for the symptoms I've been experiencing (Extreme tiredness, pains in neck, swollen lymph gland, flare up of arthritis in neck and shoulders, generally feel like I'm in a fog all the time,, lack of energy etc)
His explanation was because of the lump in the thyroid this can cause inflamation which then  affects the immune system Hence the swollen lymph glands etc, he said it's a bit like having glandular fever and like GF will therefore  have to run it's course. The thought of feeling this unwell for God knows how long is very depressing. I'm due back at work on Monday (I'm a teacher) and just can't face it.
Any thoughts?
V

Hi Cheryl

Thanks for your support and your immense knowledge. I noticed on your profile that you list reflux as one of your interests! I was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia  2 weeks ago as I was having acute reflux, in fact it was my gastroenterologist who found the thyroid nodule by doing an ultrasound on my painful neck (thought it was acid damage).

Anyway I've been unwell for so long now that I'm hoping I might be approaching some final answers!

He may be referring to thyoiditis .. inflammation of the thyroid .. others here may be able to better help but that may help ... i think there is something on top of this page under health pages - thyroiditis?

WELCOME~

Your doctor wants to be certain it isn't cancer before he assumes otherwise and that is why the FNA which I think he is being very prudent!
