white spot(like line) on gum ( i had mouth surgery)

by adri10, Apr 17, 2008 11:34PM
hi there! i just wanted to ask you a question about something that has been bothering me lately!  im pregnant on my first trimester and i've been having a lot of mouth discomfort... irritation, like dryness feeling, and today i was feeling some kind of hard spot with my tongue on my upper gum so i looked at it and is a white spot (well more like a white hard vertical line) from where my tooth start and up!, it doesnt whipe away..it doesnt hurt or itch is just and uncomfortable feeling... i had mouth surgery 5 moths ago, they surgically extracted my tooth because it was hurting me a lot and it was imposible to save... then a month later i had a root canal done on the my other tooth (the next to the one that was extracted) because it was on pretty bad shape too... i already went to the dentist 2 weeks ago and she didnt tell me anything about it so i dont know if its normal or just it wasnt there when i went in... im kind of worried that is some kind of infection or , something worst.... my husband things is the place where the oral surgeon put my stiches to sew my gums back but the line is not above the tooth that was remove rather above the next one... any help would be very appreciated i cant go to the dentist right now because we dont have healt insurance and my husband hasnt been paid yet.... thanks again!

If the lesion is asymptomatic and the surface is not ulcerated, it's probably frictional heperkeratosis, which is caused by rough edge of teeth. If financially affordable, seeing an oral pathologist or oral surgeon is advised.
