Egg on head for last 3 years

by mastiphal1, Apr 18, 2008 09:17AM
On January 1st,2005 I suffered a head injury and had an "egg" on the lower back left of my head.I went to the ER,they ran some CAT scans and nothing came up.3 years later,I still have a small "egg" on the back of my head.Did I possibly suffer a minor skull fracture and it forged back together? I only ask because I get these really sharp, painful headaches every so often that only last about 20 to 30 seconds.Thank you for your time

Hi,

This egg shaped bumped could have been a superficial soft tissue swelling or a hematoma. It is possible that through time during the healing process, the area has fibrosed (scarred) thus the lump may still be felt .

Is there any tenderness over the lump? Any redness or discoloration over the area?

You may have this assessed by your physician since the lump may be overlying a nerve and may cause referred pain which may cause the headache.
