I got the following message in my inbox. So I did respond to her by regular email and it appears she has used our website for a phising scam.

My name is miss Ruth Oumar,i saw your profile today and became intrested in you,i will also like to know you the more,and i want you to send an e-mail to my e-mail address so i can give you my picture for you to know whom i am.Here is my email address(***@****) believe we can move from here!I am waiting for your mail to my e-mail address above  (Remeber the distance or colour does not matter but love matters alot in life.)

I am also single, haven't gotten married and don't have children. My natural colour is fair in complexion and of average in heigth. I am from Ivory coast in west Africa and presently residing in the refugee camp here in Dakar Senegal as a result of the civil war that was fought in my country last three years.

The name of my late father is Hon.Clement Oumar, he  was managing director  (Oumar Extrusion Steel Products Company LTD) in Abijan the federal capital of Ivory Coast my country,and he was the personal adviser to the former head of state before the rebels  attacked our house one early morning killing my mother and my father.

It is only me that is alive now then i have to run to nearby country senegal which is where i am now in refugee camp,haven't finish up my education and need a man who will make use of my fathers wealth and get me through in life,

I would like to know more about you.Your likes and dislikes,your hobbies and what you are doing presently.

I would love to upload a virus to these kind of people, but they actually sit in internet cafes  usually in Africa and try to scam people... so the virus would only affect the cafe...but  hey, thats not a bad idea either.... to bad I am not smart enough to do so.

So are you the man for Ruth? LOL People are really nervy. I want to know, if she is in a refugee camp, they have internet access? And if people killed your family, would you be posting your picture to strangers? But you hear on TV all the time people falling for these scams.

It seem like these scams are are the rise and seem to originate from Africa or maybe the UK as the spelling are british. I'm getting a lot these days from africa saying I won the lottery. How could anyone be such a sucker to fall for this? i guess they do

That's really bawlsy of her to try to scam off of a medhelp website, but these people have no shame.  I truly despise this type of crime as it's been working on the elderly, they should be reported.  I hate to say it, but hopefully something terrible will happen to her, I mean I don't hope that she get aids or anything, but she, if it is a woman is a real diptheria.  later

Unfortunately this is one of the down sides of the internet. Scams, scams and scams. Anything from deceased family to lotteries. Snake oil... you name it. These scam organizations are quite organized. They post pictures of girls who are not even involved. Mostly these are some hard core criminals, who know exactly what they are doing. Ever heard of the Nigerian connection. There was a documentary of a Danish man who got conned bad time. He even made several trips to Nigeria to help this 'person'... They staged all kinds of happenings there. Buy this time the Dane had already spent a fortune to help this 'person'. So the day came where they were going to get this large amount of money back. The handover was finally done in a hotel and the police came busting in, arrested the people and deported the Danish guy. This guy had an adventure of a life time. Lost a whole lot of money. Everything had been staged... Even the police bust. This is how far they will go.

So beware of internet scams, they come disguised in all kinds of shapes and colors.

I getting daily scam e mails in my yahoo about nigerian lottery and some from the UK. They all say I won the lettery but they don't even know my name.

I don't think I reported it. I just blocked her from my friends list and from notifying me. I am not sure I know how to report that to Medhelp. I also get the emails about the lottery and such but this one from Ruth Omaur or however it is spelled came to me through this website.

In this camp we are only allowed to go out from the camp only on fridays of the weeks.It's just like one staying in the prison and i hope by God's grace i will come out here soon.I don't have any relatives now whom i can go to all our relatives ran away in the middle of the war the only person i have now is Rev.Steve who is the pastor of the (**** *** **** ****) here in the camp he has been very nice to me since i came here but i am not living with him rather i am living in the women's hostel because the camp has two hostels one for men the other for women.

As a refugee here i don't have any right or privilege to go outside the camp nor even to claim the money deposited by my late father at bank in Europe which i am the next of kin.It is also where the life is paining me much.That is why you need to come to my aid this moment in order to assist to recover this money.I need to be a free human being because i have suffered alot in this prison yard called refugee camp.I also want to go back to my studies as soon as the money is released because i only attended my second year before the tragic incident that lead to my being in this situation now took place. Honey, i have my late father's deposit statement of account and death certificate here with me which i will send to you later,because the money was deposited when he was alive at standard chartered bank, one of the leading financial institution in london,United Kingdom which he used my name as the next of kin,the amount in question is $5.5m (Five Million Five Hundred Thousand US Dollars).

Can you believe people really fall for this and send wierdos like this money. How could anyone be stupid enough to fall for this.

I got two lottery notifications in the post... snail mail.... the other day. They had a bar code and everything on them. The weirdest thing was that they both were signed by different people, but the signature was exactly the same. It is amazing what these people do with these scams.
