Many acne fighting treatments available today are infused with active ingredients such as, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. Both of which are proven to fight acne. Whether you’re looking for a drying agent or an exfoliant should be considered prior to purchasing. Many topical acne creams contain benzoyl peroxide, which is a drying agent. The goal is to dry up the oil-ridden skin, therefore vanquishing the pimples. Salicylic acid, on the other hand, is an exfoliant. Exfoliants are designed to slough dead skin cells from the face or body, in order to unclog pores, hence relieving breakout. Several cleansers, toners, and pads are available with this active ingredient.
