Question on racing pulse that probably isn't cardiac

by escargo, Apr 19, 2008 02:20PM
Hello, First I will warn you that my TSH and T4 are normal, but I hope you can possibly help anyways.

My problem is an issue of great uncertainty.  I am your completely ordinary, mild mannered, suburban living graphics designer who at age 30 suddenly started feeling nauseated,  breathless, generally fatigue,  loss of exercise tolerance, having non cardiac style chest pain,  palpitations,  and a few other things all at once,  although the onset was rather insidious (sp?).        There is one thing in particular, I noticed.   When I went to take my stress test, I presume the pre-test anticipation had led to my pulse being 100 before the treadmill started, as my resting pulse is normlally below 80, but almost instantly I was feeling "surges" of energy in my abdomen/chest  and my pulse quickly jumped to 220,  then fell back again after 30 seconds or so....  My pulse was high eratic during the test..
And, I experience these odd surges all the time,   with the least of external stimuli.     Plus, I feel basically very sick, sleepy, fatigued,  lack of exercise tolerance, morning headaches,  chronic daily headache, nausea and breathlessness that comes and goes in intensity,  heavy chest pain and palpitations..palps that are badly aggrivated post exercise.     intense exercise makes me feel even worse for a day or 2 afterwards,  as a consequence I've given up my long time hobby of working out and have begun gaining weight back :(

Can you offer any input from an endo perspective?   Would it behoove me enough to actually pay good money to an Endo to get this figured out?  Or should I be seeing someone else?   (a cardiologist told me i don't have a primary cardiac problem)

Not sure if this is endocrine - would work w/ general internist first who can refer you to endocrine if needed.
