ovarian mass

Has anyone taken the blood test ( ca-125 ) and been told it falls in the normal range - and than find out you have cancer.?

Yes it is possible.  It is not an accurate test especially for pre-menopausal women.  there are some women on the forum that had normal range  counts and still ended up with OVCA.   OVCA is a rare disease,  if you are doubting  the results of the test because of further symptoms then I would suggest you get a  TransVaginal Ultra sound.  Good Luck and keep us posted  Marty

I have had a transvag ultrasound / CT / Blood test - now I am going to schedule a hysterectomy - I guess I will wait for the mass to be biopsyed.

Yes, mine was in the normal range. Some tumor types don't give a high number. Now that we know what my normal is I know that if mine goes above 12 it could be a recurrence. Normal for me is 0 - 5. Because the CA125 is not a good indicator for me I have scans every 3 months. Marie

Hi there.... Some cancers are not reactive to the Ca-125. This is a protein that shows up in the blood.  Mine was 25 on first draw. This blood test seems more to be more accurate to determine how treatment is going. It is not a good diagnostic test
