noel,
maybe you should try to cold turkey , You should talk to the doctor about a migraine meds ,there are many out there now that should work MUCH better then oxys .

Is there anyone that can hold on to your pills to help with a taper?

by corey411, Apr 20, 2008 03:48PM
Ask your Md about Furinol?sp but be careful..it has some phenabarbitol in it...also as Sue 41 said Imitrex works wonders. Good luck with tapering. I had to go ct as I could not control my pills. Good luck...it's worth it in the end.

by noelangel, Apr 20, 2008 03:54PM
is there a way to cold turkey and still be able to work? could I start it on the weekend and then go from there?

by avisg, Apr 20, 2008 04:04PM
The first few days would be VERY hard .If there is no way to get any time off .I would try taking your last pill either thrusday night or friday morning  I dont know if you would be able to make it to work on Monday ,I went back to work on day four the first time ,the second I worked threw it ,but it was VERY VERY hard but I did it. If you could get your doctor to give you a script for clonondine it would REALLY help you.

by noelangel, Apr 20, 2008 04:13PM
what is clonondine and what is it for?

by avisg, Apr 20, 2008 04:17PM
Clonidine lowers blood pressure by decreasing the levels of certain chemicals in your blood. This allows your blood vessels (veins and arteries) to relax (widen) and your heart to beat more slowly and easily.

Clonidine is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).

Clonidine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

It helps take away alot of the withdrawl symptoms you will have

have your doctor drop you to tylenol #3 or #4.......that will taper you down.

by worried878, Apr 20, 2008 09:02PM
I live alone as well...I had to ask a friend to hold my pills for me....after i told her the situation, she was happy to help....i was prescribed for pain...it is really nothing to be ashamed of and most friends would understand....just a suggestion...i would quit on a friday like avis said and you may not feel fantastic on monday but you could make it if u taper down a bit before u quit....u could leave early if u had to and plead the flu...tapering alone is hard for many
