Hi huneybee41, how are you? Can you briefly post your symptoms to know better? Since when are you facing this sleep disturbance and is it a continuous one or on and off nature? Stress is a common trigger for both the narcolepsy and rhythmic movement disorder. These can even be worsened due to stress causing sleep deprivation. Are you under care of a doctor and currently are you taking any medications. A sleep study might be required to know the sleep pattern. Also electromyography can also be done. Try to be relaxed and get physical therapy for a few sessions. Take care and share your thoughts.

Yes thanks for the comment, I am taking something to help me go into a deeper state of sleep. What does electromyography do?

Hi huneybee41, how are you? Thanks for replying and sharing your thoughts. Are you able to sleep well now with the aid of medicines? Have you got a sleep study done and assessed by a sleep doctor? Electromyography is done "for evaluating and recording physiologic properties of muscles at rest and while contracting". Do you get continuous twitches in muscles or have frequent jerk like movement in either upper or the lower limbs. You may get more info on EMG through this link -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromyography
Take care and share your thoughts.

Hi huneybee41, how are you? How about your sleep these days? Hope you are feeling better than before. Have you got any investigation done to know the cause for your jerking limbs? It may be good idea to even consult a neurologist to get examined. Are you still getting the hallucinations during sleep? Get sleep study and EMG done as suggested and share your thoughts. Take care.

Had a sleep study, on meds. Have not been having the hypnogogic hallutionations or jerking that I know of so the meds are working thanks for answering my question.

Hi huneybee41, thanks for having replied and hope you are doing a lot more better? It is good to hear you are now getting better with medications. You need to regularly follow up with your attending doctor and get assessed the progress on monthly basis. Try a few sessions of physical therapy and keep yourself physically active. Do update on progress and share your thoughts. Take care.
