Surgery Help

Hello,
My wife has a permanent bridge. Her Dentist says she has to have a tooth pulled out from under the bridge. It allready has a root canal. We are told this requires cutting into her gum and pulling the tooth out from under the permanent bridge. She is a bit scared and worried about this. She now has a swollen gum by the tooth but is in little pain. Is there an alternative to this. We are not rich but have enough to do it right. What is you advise.
Thanks

Sounds like they are planning a root amputation.  This is a viable option in an attempt to save the bridge but may not be a long term permanent solution.

Other options include removing the bridge, removing the tooth and replacing with dental implants or a partial denture.
