Spotting while on BCP

by brittanyc, Apr 21, 2008 09:27AM
I am planning on doing IVF. My doctor put me on BCP, but I missed 3 pills. I made up and started spotting.
It has been 2 weeks, and tomorrow i will start my med, so I wonder
1) since the spotting is getting more and color is getting brighter, would it possible to be my period, although i never miss any since?
2) would it impact my outcome of my IVF? in other words, should I still proceed my IVF or should have a fresh start?
Please advise, I am desperate..

It is totally normal to spot while on birth control pills. I have been on them almost 2 weeks now and am still spotting some days worse than others. I wasn't sure if it was normal but after talking with some ladies here and calling my doctor my nerves were settled. As for your situation, missing 3 days and then making up for it-it probably is ok that you are spotting like you are however, if it does keep getting worse it could be your period, I know it's hard to tell sometimes. If the spotting persists and get's worse maybe give your doctor a call.
I think you will be good to proceed with ivf-when are you scheduled??
Good luck to you :)

I would love to help, but don't have an answer for you. It is beyond my knowledge. I think you should send a note or message to LvnEmbryos. She should be able to help :)
