Leukoplakia is a term used describe a white lesion.  It is not a histological diagnosis.  there are many causes for white lesions in the mouth and some are more serious than others.

Let the surgeon perform an examination.  If the he/she cannot make a clinical diagnosis they will take a biopsy.
