Prolapsed disks

by E77, Apr 21, 2008 11:11PM
Hi i am Female and am 30 yrs old, I have 4 prolapsed disks in my spine staring at the lower back and working there way up. I suffer with chronic pain most of the time, and have nerve damage. Within the last yr I had a large heamorroid that was very painful but came after a trip away using public transport etc etc. Recently i have started with reletively heavey bleeding from my bum (this comes and goes) feelig of a swollan stomach and wierd sweating in the night. I have been to my GP whom has tried to reassure me, but has referred me to the local hospital for more tests.

I am obviously interested if you have any ideas as to what this is, but i also wondered if my prolapsed disk problem could cause heamorroids or anal fissures.

Hi there.

Bleeding hemorrhoids are indeed a cause of concern, moreover, if they cause pain and abdominal discomfort.  I suggest you take your case to a specialist (surgeon or gastroenterologist) so that you can be worked up properly.  They may advise you to have proctosigmoidoscopy (inserting a small scope to visualize the ano-rectal area) to have a good assessment.  Chronic blood loss from hemorrhoids can also cause anemia and may lead to easy fatigability, dizziness, and all sorts of symptoms.

You may also want to discuss about having a surgical management for your prolapsed disks that is causing you pain, but you should weigh between risks and benefits.

Regards and God bless.
