High TSH Level during pregnancy

by nmenkudale, Apr 22, 2008 02:14AM
My wife is pregnant with 5th monyh running. Our doctor has suggested for thyroid test & the test results show that TSH level is on a higher side
T3- 190 ng/dL
T4- 10.08 microgm/dL
TSH- 4.58 micro IU/mL.
Based on this results, doctor has suggested ELECTROXIN tablets of 50mg one each day for three months.
Is it advisable to take the medicine ? Is there any other way of reducing TSH ?
And most important- what adverse effects it causes on foetus ?
