herpes possible

About 2 weeks ago i had unprotected sex with a friends roomate. About 12 days later i had a little bumb on my lower butt/leg. it is about half the size of a dime, it is red but has no puss or head (at least as of today 3 days after i noticed it.) I have been slightly itchy all over my body but not especially near the bump. These are all the symptoms i have other than being worried about this i feel great.  I have read many of the post and responses all are very helpful, I understand i may have herpes based on the timeline and fact that herpes presents very differently in people. I am more worried that hiv may be a possiblilty as well. What are the chances of aquiring both HSV and HIV in the same sex act. There was no bleeding, i didn't  have any std going into the act (as i have been tested prior) The female who i have spoke to briefly since has said she doesn't have anything but did not answer when i asked if she was tested. But she did say she hasn't noticed any problems. If she had HIV and HSV wouldn't it be likely she would notice problems. I plan on getting tested but was hoping for some professional insite.

OK, let's start with HIV.  The chance that this woman was HIV infected are close to zero.  If she had it, you r chances of getting HIV are less than 1 in 1000 after a single sex act.  Putting this together, your chances of having HIV are really not worth further comment-they are close to non-existent.

Herpes.  Even with all of the contact that goes with vigorous sex, The chance that your leg/rear end and not your penis would get herpes if exposed are tiny.  Furthermore, the lesion you describe does not sound at all like herpes, even atypical herpes.

My assessment.  Your risk is very low.  Get tested for your piece of mind but, based on all that you've told me, there is really very little to worry about.  EWH

Thank you so much for your assessment. If i may add a question or two. I have been taking a strong antibiotic (Bactrin) would this effect the possibliity of the virus popping up on my penis? I have read some post that people say they had "no signs" or "symptoms" of herpes infection then find that they do have it. can this be true, or did they at one time just not notice? any feedback would be very helpful...thanks again for all your help.

No, the antibiotic would not have effect your chances or test results.  You are still unlikely to have herpes and almost certainly do not have HIV.  EWH

okay, now i had my dates off a bit, exposure on april 1st, i notice a bump on my lower butt on the 18th, like i said i began to be slightly itchy all over. As of may 1st my little bump is smaller but still there, it appears to have a thin ring of dead skin in middle of  it almost the size of "o"....it is not hurting or itchy ad had never been. i am still itchy all over but mostly aournd my privates, it comes and goes and is not a big itch but slight like if i could just not itch and it would go away.
So you had mentioned that it would be unlikely to acquire a herpe on my butt and not penis...does that mean infection can not occur from the penis and then pop up in a differnet spot? This would be a primary infection, as i had said i had been tested within past year, would that matter at all. I have been reading and am worried once again that maybe the itching is more telling thhen i originally thought...thanks Dr. Hook for you insight thus far...any comments would be much welcomed

You are reading too much. You can find lots of misinformation on the internet.  You are perseverating on risk that is miniscule.

Infection does not occur at one place and then pop up elsewhere.

As for what the bump on your rear end is, I think you need to see your own health care provider so they can take a look at it, tell you what it is and tell you once again that it is not herpes.  Hope this helps.  EWH
