by jim1610, Apr 22, 2008 09:00PM
I'm 16 and depressed. i'm taking drugs for anxiety issues and depression but i'm still depressed. i feel that i don't have any friends at all and there is no one i could talk to. my parents know about my depression but they don't really help, and my dad made the depression worse. i am feeling misundrstood by them but don't have the courage to speak up. I fell that i cannot do anything and that i'm just a loser. i have zits all over my face that makes me feel awful. what can i do to make me feel better

I feel ya man. Firstly, you do have friends, there are people you can talk to and you are loved. Mid teens are the most difficult both socially and academically. Social stigma and conformity are high, you need to do what the most popular kid does to impress the other kids and you need to do well to impress the parents. Millions of 16 year olds get this, you're not alone, its important you know that.

Secondly, drugs dont work for everyone. Sometimes it helps to talk to a psychologist or a councellor. I had mild depression around your age and I found going to see a councellor really helped. They sit you down, chuck you a coffee and ask you to say whats wrong. You may think talking to strangers is scary, but sometimes strangers are the best people to let everything out to. You're only 16 you have the best years of your school life to come, you're not a loser and dude everyone gets zits, you just got to keep treating them as advised by a doctor or pharmacist and get on with things. Good luck mate.
