hiv and meds?

hi everyone!i was diagnosed a year ago.but think i must have caught it bout 5 years ago.im reasonably healthy and am showing no symptoms as yet(fingers crossed).has anyone ever heard of someone whos hiv+ that has never experienced any symptoms and hasnt had to take any meds?im probably just clutching at straws here.but a good friend of mine was diagnosed 22 years ago and only started on the meds this year.was just wondering what other peoples experiences are with this?

WOW... thats both amazing and encouraging... to be positive all that time and not be on meds!!
