Difference between Aropax and Lexapro

Dear Dr.
Yesterday was my first appointment ever with a psychiatrist, trying to work on my depression and anxiety situation. He described for me AXPRO to be taken ¼ of the tablet per day.
When I was buying it, the pharmacist mentioned to me that there is another medicine, from the same branch named “LEXAPRO” cheaper and might have fewer side effects than Axpro.
My concern is that what the pharmacist explained to me, to gain weight by taking Axpro. The pharmacist seemed like PREFERING LEXAPRO than AXPRO. And already I have a disturbance in my appetite that it increases and I don’t like that the medicine affect me by gaining weight.
I ask your advice what t
o do in this case.
I appreciate your answer.

You should stick with your doctor's recommendation...both pills are similar in the way they work...both may or may not effect your weight..you will have to do that by trial and error.
