KIDNEY AND PREGNANCY

by dee808, Apr 24, 2008 03:24AM
I had an IVU which established that i had kidney drop which is refered as NEPROPTOSIS , Nephroptosis refers to a condition wherein the kidney "drops" or descends about 5 cm when the person is standing, I am quite disturbed, am 34 year old female , seeking to be pregnant. Is this going to be a problem for me, i must add that i am a very fertile lady. Also the only sypmtom i have is a little pain sometimes, but for the past few months i have not had any pain.Would be very glad if you do answer me. thank you

Hi,

I had the same thing, with barely any symptoms, just a little flank pain. My kidney dropped 10cm when I stood up! I carried 4 children just fine! All 4 where perfectly healthy and full term. I had no problems. It does make a good excuse to get your hubby to rub your back though! My one single most important word of advice, NEVER be operated on for this condition! I had barely any pain before surgey, 6mos ago, now I am in so much pain I can't stand it. I have lost mobility in my rt arm and have severe pain when I breath, talk and walk. Well, good luck and God bless. Keep in mind that this is a common condition, it's the diagnosis that's rare.
