Compulsions; washing and cleaning, counting (certain patterns, for example), checking (that the stove or iron is off, that the doors are locked, etc), demanding reassurance, repeating actions over and over, arranging and making items appear orderly
Obsessions can cause severe distress to the sufferer who will usually try to supress these, and the compulsions are usually to counteract the obsessions for temparary relief, although it is not usually long before the obsessions begin again. Sufferers tend to resist their compulsions aswel.
For OCD to be diagnosed, you must have either obsessions or compulsions, you must realize these are excessive and unreasonable and they must interfere with your daily routine.
Only a medical professional can tell you whether or not you have OCD. If you believe you may be suffering from obsessions or compulsions or any other anxiety problem, inform your doctor.
