Can I be pregnant? I am so unsure!

by mommyoftwo28644, Apr 24, 2008 01:14PM
Hi, I need some advice. I have two children right now ages 2 and 6. I am currently a little over a week late. I had a light spotting around the end of March (around two weeks after my period) and a light spotting Monday. Nothing major not even a tbsp total. I have had heartburn (I never have heartburn unless I was pregnant), I am tired, moody, I had some crramps/stomach discomfort, the smell of normal foods bother me esp popcorn, headaches, breasts are a little tender, and I am running to the bathroom every hour or so (more than usual). I recently took to First Responst HPTs, one this morning and the other was two days ago in the evening. (I thought I would take it this morning since I was reading that your HCG levels are higher in the morning). With my first child I was 10 weeks before I went to the doctor for a test, too young and didn't want to believe it, and with my second child I knew it right away and the HPT was positive a few days past ovulation. We were charting then. I haven't been charting and we had unprotected sex twice after the first spotting. If anyone has any advice please help, either way I know its in Gods hands. Thanks

Hello,

Was the HPT + or negative.  If negative, repeat it in one week.

I usually get my cycle on the same day every month... strange i know... but its always around the 15th or the 16 of every month. last AF was on March 16th. but fertility friend says im due today.. how is that possible? i thought i was due on the 16th of April? that would throw me totally off.. the 16 of March to the 29th of April?? thats to many days!!!!  im usually 29 to 30 days aprox. so that would have made me due on the 14th or the 15th of April. sooo i thought that i was  2 weeks late... am i wrong?? also my cervix is low, and soft.. is that a sign of AF or PG?? i have all the symptoms but milder... i have nausea, but its not bad like it was with my 3 girls, i have mild heartburn, i am tired, but feel better now, been off work for a few days so ive rested, everyone tells me there is no way im prego, that if i am then its a tubal. ive taken 3 tests, last one was like 5 days ago.. all were BFN but if i am then i would only be 6 weeks, when i was prego with my oldest, i took a test and it was BFN got my cycle and found out later that i was, she was born exactly 9 months to the day i took the test!! i pray daily that i can conceive again without a reversal, i went through a very bad marriage, 10 years of abuse, he left me for another woman, and i am now engaged to a wonderful man with no kids of his own, i would give anything to be able to give him a child!! im wondering if a different father or a different sex baby makes a difference in the amount of HCG you make? i dont know, i dont feel like AF is coming, my breasts are swollen, i just bought new bras and they are getting tight and my BBS are pushing out of them, over the sides if ya know what i mean, 2 1/2 weeks ago they fit fine,  im sooo confused!!!

Hello,

If you think you might be pregnant repeat the hCG in one week.

The sex of the baby, and the father of the baby have nothing to do with the hCG level.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
