Testicle discomfort

by bman625, Apr 25, 2008 09:18AM
Dear Doctor.....Over the past year plus I have seen a urologist for testicle discomfort, lower ab and pelvic discomfort, all on the right side. Whenever I lay down the discomfort subsides. I have discomort mainly when I sit.  I have had two ultrasounds, a lower gi, a few testicle and prostate exams, a few STD tests, as well as a psa test--all negative.  My urologist put me on cypro for eight weeks, thinking this was epididymitis.  That didn't  help.  He is now telling me that this is possibly chronic prostatitis and that this will flare up off and on possibly for months or years!  I now take advil and aleve and that does help with the discomfort for about 4-5 hours. This is very frustrating and I don't know what to do next?  Is this life threatening?  Any advice would help.

I do not have the answer, but a couple of thoughts may apply. I would suggest  a CTU-urogram or an abdominal CAT scan with and without contrast. I am looking for a ureteral stone or any other pathology that might cause this pain (even though your urine may be clear). Also, the ultrasounds, were they  doppler and did they include your scrotum? Did they perform the study with you standing?  Any evaluation of your spinal nerves?
Hope this helps.
