What does implantation bleeding look like?

I am 24 and I've been experiencing unusual bleeding for the past 5 days. I had unprotected intercourse with my boyfriend right around my ovulation time. My bf pulled out before ejaculation. A week later I noticed pink blood when I wiped and then the discharge started. Since then I've been having brown to dark blood discharge all day long. Sometimes when I would go to the bathroom there would be some small clots coming out as well. The discharge is not as heavy as my period is, but it leaves a mark on my liner and I need to change it often. My period is due in 5 days. I did a pregnancy test which came out negative but I suppose it's too early to tell. I am wondering if implantation bleeding could be this heavy and if could last 5 days? In other words, could I be pregnant?

i couldnt tell you for sure just what it was but i am experiencing the same thing right now. im due for AF on 4/28, never spotted before AF before and definitely never started this early. (i started spotting 4/21) mine is just like when i wipe and a small stain here and there. with my first daughter i know i spotted for a good month, on and off every few days. my doctor never said anything about it! wait till you miss AF and then take another test, im sure its just too early to tell. they say that your body doesnt make enough hcg to detect until after the implantation, maybe not even until a few days later.

I had IB with my second pregnancy and what it was it was just light spotting and made me think it was the start of AF but then after 1-2 days it quit and no AF....others have said it's just a spec of color when they wipe so I think it can be different for everyone.

Yeah, that's the thing, everyone talks about light spotting, but what constitutes light spotting, you know what I mean? This whole thing is getting me really confused. I wish there was a way to measure discharge and tell if it was light spotting or something more :)

from what ive read about it, it doesnt really go by the amount, i mean it has to be light and scant, but it is not to follow a pattern similar to AF, which is light to heavier to light again.

I had a regular bleed my 1st month. I was around 10 wks when I found out I was pregnant because I missed my Nov period. My conception date according to U/S was Sept. 3 if I remember right....Something like that.

The only way to know for sure would be a positive HPT or blood test.
