xanax - weaning troubles

by jelizewski03, Apr 26, 2008 02:16PM
Three weeks ago I did not take xanax for two days.  I went through such bad withdrawals.  I blacked out and was constantly in the bathroom sick.  My doctor refilled my xanax and also put me on celexa in hopes to wean me off of xanax.  I have blacked out again ten days later and am consitently feeling wiped.  Is there anything that can help with severe anxiety attacks and stresses that are not as so dependent like xanax?  i have tried weaning down and am down to two pills a day compared to three but the minute by body realizes that I didn't take my xanax i start shaking and have to take 1 mg.  what do you suggest?  Thank you -

In addition to the celexa, you might ask your doctor about using klonopin as a substitute for xanax, which is longer acting, then wean yourself off of that.
