Prozac scare

by hitman60, Apr 26, 2008 07:07PM
Ok, I go back to my doctor because I am having horrible anxiety.....mostly because I think I tried to taper from .5 mg of Klonopin too quickly...still looking for that answer.

He tells me to start back on Prozac which I have done 2 other times. The only symptom I got before was the "Yawns"

This time after day 4, I got hit in the middle of the night with horrible anxiety, agitiation, pacing and I was sweating profusely. I took my .5 mg of Klonopin which settled me a bit, but the next day, I felt like I was on the verge. My doc told me to take 1 mg of Klonopin and that settled me down. The next day I was better, but discontinued the Prozac and went back to .5 of Klonopin.

I can't believe that a medicine can react to you totally differently when you restart it.

hitman it has nothing to do with the prozac. it is the klonopin w/d...i gaurentee it. start back on the prozac and get a taper schedule from ryan for the klonopin. treat them as 2 seperate issues. if you experience anxiety attribute it to the klonopin withdrawal and stay on the prozac.

this one i know about, you could say i am an expert. the hasty taper schedule is what caused ALL your symptoms not the prozac.

I have not been weaning off the benzo since the scare. I have been back on my .05mg, and WANTING to wean off. I don't think in my case it had to do with the benzos.
I felt the same way when I was stopped Serzone a few years ago due to the liver problems that the drug was supposed to cause.

I will probably return to an SSRI once I finally get off this damn 05 mg, but I cannot find anyone to tell me a schedule. People have suggested RCA, but I do not know the guy.
Someone suggested that I taper using another benzo, but I don't want to go there.

Explanation.....

Many weeks ago I tried to ween myself off of benzos----That is the scare I refer to in the post directly above, not the Prozac scare of the original message
