anorexic sister deterioriation deep concern

by Mesister, Apr 27, 2008 04:15AM
I live in Scotland my sister is in america so can't get to her to help (my husband is in poor health can't leave him) she has been anorexic for a number of years but after finding out the situation ha become very much worse I have had her see a doctor she has not eaten at all  for four month is now bedridden, in adult diapers has sever back, feet and leg pain and is extremely tired. Doctor's tests so far revealed multiple compound fractures in lumber spine, osteoporosis and arthritis. Bloog glucose is 122, B12 feritin normal Hg 12.  Doctor says she has deteriorated in 10 days since he last saw her she is 65 but has the appearance of being 95  One of her feet is so dark blue it is almost black from the toes to the arch but the doc says so far nothing has indicated her insurance would cover her being admitted to hospital he has ordered gastro scope but this could take a month.  Surely she needs some sort of pre-entral feeding I believe sh has only been given pain killers for the pain in her legs.  I am very anxious and our mother who is 88 is ill with worry is there something that you can tell me that we should be doing to help or is there a way to get her to hospital.  She lives just with her husband and son so they are just going by  whatever is said to them but I feel not enough is being done and my sister is in very real trouble.  Many thanks for your time and I appreciste any help you can give.

This is not my area of speciality, but I can tell there is only one thing for you to do, and that is to get her into a hospital as soon as possible, it is a true emergency...
