trauma to adjacent 2nd molar

I recently had the upper right 3rd molar removed.  Thee roots of the 3rd and 2nd molar were close, resulting in the 2nd molar's roots being cut.  Is it possible that the roots of the 2nd molar will heal and fuse together eventually?

It is unlikely the roots will heal spontaneously.  Sometimes preventative root canal therapy is indicated to less the chance of infection.  Most often the doctor can closely monitor the area for a period of time with radiographs.
