My four year old son had a Thyroglossal duct cyst removed from under his tongue
Back in feb last year 2007
What I was wondering the surgeaon that removed it, took it out from under his tougue
Is this the correct way to remove  a Thyroglossal duct cyst and get rid of it
Or was Sistruck procedure to be done My son has speech problems, is this something to do with not removing this correctly and he still has breathing problems and could it be to do with the paths tract and sinusthat should have been fixed too And should his thyroid be checked  
Family history: My sister had thyriod cancer

I am not a pediatric surgeon so the technique by which the thyroglossal duct cyst was removed needs to be addressed with a pediatric surgeon, that is who I refer my own patients and have had only one in the past 2 years, others who I follow who came already treated. Yes, thyroid functions are important to check and your pediatrician can get them to include a TSH and free T4
