MAny symptoms and wondering if my mom is high risk foralzhiemers

by emzthagem, Apr 28, 2008 12:28PM
Hello
My mom has mini- strokes, fibromyalgia, arthiritis, and seizures. Her seizures are not the grand mal. She has the rolling of eyes her mouth changes and she has no recollection. It seems to be at this point that about 20-30 years or so of her life is a blank. I know it has to do with the siezures, and that it does produce short term memeroy loss, but with all of her health problems taken into account, do I need to be concerned about her having alzhiemers or any other type of dimentia related problems?

Hi Dear

Stroke, dementia, and alzheimers disease occur in elderly individuals. There have been many studies conducted to ascertain a correlation between stroke and alzheimers disease. Some studies have found a positive correlation while others have found no corelation.

It is still a matter of debate and cannot be conclusively said if stroke/depression are linked to Alzheimer's disease or not.

Best.
