Ashtyn Update....Have to go back to U of M for more testing:(

by Cheyenne_08, Apr 28, 2008 02:20PM
I got a call from U of M today. Apparently, Ashtyn's Creatine Kinase test came back elavated which his first neurologist failed to meantion. Therefore, the doctor has asked that the test be repeated. Along with that, they will be doing the following blood tests: Lactate & Pyrovate (gets drawn with no turnakit (can't spell lol), put on ice, and sent straight to the Mayo Clinic), HL Carnitin Profile, and a Chromosomal MicroArray Analysis....

I found some info on the CMA:

Chromosomal Microarray Analysis (CMA) is a new genetic test that can detect disorders usually picked up by chromosome analysis (karyotype) and disorders that cannot be picked up on a karyotype (including many single gene disorders). It may be ordered for any patient with unexplained mental retardation or developmental delay, unusual physical characteristics, multiple congenital anomalies, or possible gene deletion or duplication.

Anyway, they want it done asap, so I go Wednesday at 1:30. Wish Ashtyn luck... =(

I wish you the best of luck.  I promise that at some point, this testing will stop and you will get to enjoy your little man.  Between now and then though, times are long.  We've been in your shoes and I feel for you. We'll be praying for you guys! Julie
