Syphilis Test

About 20years ago I had an sexual incounter which approximately a week later I devoleped a single open sore on my penis. It went away and never reappered or had any other symtoms with it. The issue has never left my mind and have always wondered what it was. In 2005 I went to the county health department got tested for Syphilis. The RPR test and the FTA-ABS were non reactive. I have seen pictures of the syphlis sore which resembled what I had. My question is how accurate are the tests I had done? What else would create a simular sore?

You could have had a herpes outbreak, a fungal infection - all kinds of different things. Since you haven't had any symptoms in 20 years, I wouldn't worry about it at all.
