help please

by allycat25, Apr 28, 2008 10:04PM
I recently got back from florida. and while i was on the plane i noticed a few spots of dry skin, and then later on the dry spots were pink, so i figured okay i got burnt now now its just peeling like any other regular peeling. But now its all large white patches. somebody suggested it could be Idiopathic Guttate Hypomelanosis and i searched for some information and some pictures but that disorder usually comes in tiny dots, or dots. Mine is patches almost like vitligo would start. It isnt dots at all. I did have a heat rash on my arms before i came home. Im from Newfoundland Canada, which isnt really known for sun. I dont know, could somebody please help me.

Hi,

Hi,

This could be sunburn, allergic reactions, etc.

You could apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and take some oral antihistamine , antialleric medications and see if it helps with your symptoms. Use a medicated sunscreen whenever you go out and avoid sun exposure.

There could be superadded bacterial or fungal infection for which you would need antibiotics or antifungals and other medications.

It would be best to consult your doctor for a proper clinical examination to decide on the final diagnosis and the further management plan.

Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Regards.
