cravings/symtpoms

by rnh3290, Apr 29, 2008 09:07AM
ok so im real confused, usually when girls are in their 1st trimester they loose their appetite right? well, ive gained one. i dont eat just to eat, im actually hungry. there are times ill eat a meal and like 20 min later ill feel sooo hungry like i aint ate in weeks. Also ive been eatin alot of Reeses cups. thats the one thing im always craving.  Ill go and buy 2 king sized reeses cups packs, and about 4 regular sized ones. and ill eat them all in one day. this has been everyday. the past few days ive been tryna cut back on them and spacin them out thru the day, and savin them for late at nite, ( about 3am) when i get the hungriest. Also ive been havin like super bad symptomes. Like theyre soo overexaggerated. Like instead of being just fatigued, im dead on my feet, instead of and increased appetite, i eat like i havent been eating for the past months and ivew been getting real bad dizzy spells, to where i almost faint cuz of it.
1. Does anyone kno why im having overexaggerates sympomts like this? has anyone else been thru this?

2. How can i satisfy my appetite, and cravings, without eating junk, and without gaining unneccesary weight?

Yes, yes and yes. In my family it is common to eat yourself stupid in the first 3 months! Not only do we get hungry more often, but eating often is the only way to keep the morning sickness in check. Try and eat lots of raw veges. They aren't very satisfying, but they take ages to chew. (and very low fat) Failing that, go for a walk every day. (30mins minimum) Another trick is to 'serve yourself'. Take the amount of whatever you are snacking on out of the packet and into a bowl. Don't eat out of the packet/box or you will devour the whole thing! (not hard to do)
With my first bub I put on 27kg (I am a size 8)
With my second bub I put on 10kg - with raw fruit and veges and walking.
I was back down to a size 7, only I got pregnant and then miscarried. Not sure how much weight I put on this time. Refuse to weigh myself. its really depressing to gain weight and not be rewarded with a baby. :(  Still trying though.
Let me know how you go...

The dizzy spells you may want to ask your doctor or nurse; it can be normal especially early in pregnancy.  But one thing that can cause it is eating a lot of sugary foods and getting a sudden spike in your blood sugar levels and then getting that "low" after the blood sugar levels drop.  Try to see if anything else will satisfy your sweet cravings rather than candies, like fruit, applesauce, cereal/fruit bars, dried fruit, rice cakes (they have some pretty good chocolate ones), etc.  Also, if you increase your water intake that may help you feel full longer, and you need the water anyway.
This phase will probably pass for you.  I did the opposite.  I didn't eat many sweets in the beginning, just didn't have an appetite for them.  Then long about 6-7 mos I had to have some.  Now, I'm back to where I could live without them (34 wks).  These things just come and go throughout the pregnancy I guess.

oh, last nite after i washed up i looked in the mirror and i saw like, all these blue lines on my chest/breasts. What the hell are they? and has anyone else had that wen u were pregnant?

Yeah, those are normal.  The veins start showing up more like that when your pregnant.

im 8 weeks. and i kno exactly how u feel! i dont feel pregnant either. i mean i got symptoms, like im always sleepy and tired, my breasts hurt and tingle, and i feel nauseated and dizzy alot. But its like i gota keep reminding myself that i am pregnant. even tho i feel like a walking hot air balloon, and my waistline is a lil thicker now. it was really weird but strangely intersting to see all those veins in mt chest/breasts.

Its weird isnt it!!!! I just have sore boobs and my nipples are bigger nd darker and i feel exhausted alot more but apart from that, NOTHING!  The veins are common though in pregnancy so you shouldnt be worried about that but yes they can be alarming as one minute they arent there and the next its like they have been there for years!!
