herpes? candidiasis? bv? help

by helphelphelphelp, Apr 29, 2008 12:57PM
some months ago my obgyn diagnosed me with a bv infection, i took metronidazole (sp?) and the infection cleared, but about two or three months back i suspected a recurrence. however, i thought it went away and i gladly accepted this opportunity not to go to the obgyn (it freaks me out). my long-distance boyfriend was coming home, but i ended up having unprotected sex with one of my friends about 5 days before he came home. i know this was stupid and regret it on many levels. anway, he never came in me, i noticed no strange symptoms after. my boyfriend came home and we ended up sleeping together for the first time. didn't use protection, probably slept together 6 times over the course of a week. he did come in me, and after sex i wouldn't go pee usually (sorry if this is tmi) just go straight to sleep. i noticed a strong smell, and about halfway through the week a severe itchiness that would wake me up in the night/ be problematic during the day. he was only in town for a week. i expected the symptoms to clear up, but the itchiness has persisted for the past two months, i also have itchiness in my anus. i put yogurt on my vagina, and the next day i noticed a couple of pustules, which only lasted for a day or so. not sure if its herpes or just my skin reacting to the yogurt. i also have some spotty bleeding and cannot find the origin.  my discharge is chunky and milky. i am so terrifed, and i know i need to go to the doctor, i will, i am just so scared that if i have herpes i will have to live with it forever, and thus live alone forever. i am so depressed because of this fear. side information: ive slept with 6 guys, im 18, i have super sensitive skin and have experienced bizarre rashes and skin reactions all my life, i am a heavy smoker, i am on birth control (mononessa which i switched to about the time i first thought i was having a bv recurrence), and drink often as well. dont exercise. my diet isn't great either. please help. thanks

There is an autoimmune disorder called Behcet's Syndrome that you should know about. It causes herpes like symptoms, unprotected sex can trigger an attack and can cause bladder pain and BV. Years later you could develop other symptoms like eye inflammation and arthritis. I'm not saying it's what you have, but it is possible. You need to be tested for STD's to begin with, but don't assume it's an STD just yet. If this is an immune disorder like Behcet's you will need to start taking better care of yourself and rest more. You need to do that even if you don't have it.
