Why Clomid and not Femara

by Kash12, Apr 29, 2008 03:51PM
Why do REs start with Clomid and not Femara? We all know that Clomid causes CM dryness and cysts.. then y do REs not start with Femara from the first time itself???

This Q has been bothering me since long.. Anyone knows???

I think it's because Femara has technically not been approved for ovulation induction. It's only approved by the FDA for cancer treatment. But I agree with you! I like it a lot better than clomid :-)

clomid also cause the uterus lining thin.  be sure talk to your doctor about this.  This cycle my doctor switch from clomid to femera....

U bet...i love femara over clomid too....the s/e are lesser and it gets out of your body much faster.
Heather is right ....Femara is not FDA approved for OI that's why some Res are reluctant to prescribe it.
I did not even know if Femara until I visit my current RE. My prev RE put me on cycles of clomid with no success and then said my next steps wud be IVF or injectables....so i went ofr a second opinion and the new RE prescribed me Femra...I am on the 4th cycle and have not had success but I definitely can say that my body responds better to femara...each cycle I have had one BIG mature follicle
