Oral Sex during an HSV-1 genital outbreak?

If I was to have a genital outbreak (HSV-1) and gave my boyfriend oral sex, would the risk of passing it on to him be greater because im having an outbreak?

Not if you don't have oral herpes.

You are only infectious from the area of infection.

I guess I'm a bit confused, since i have the virus in my body, wouldn't it be possible to pass it on through kissing or oral as well?

You don't have it "in your body" the way you think. Its not like HIV, where you would have it everywhere. Its a localized infection, so you are only infectious from the site of infection.
