Blood in Stool

by JR2313, Apr 30, 2008 09:21AM
Im a 20 year old male.  I've recently in the past month noticed some small blood stain when I stool.  Not everday and sometimes not at all.  Today I felt I needed to go and thats all that came out.  I anal tissue is very tender and I want to believe it might just be a cut but need answers because it is starting to scare me.

Hi JR2313,
Your symptoms are suggestive of anal fissures. Take plenty of fluids along with high fiber diet.
You need to consult a gastro for confirmation of the diagnosis and get medications for relief of pain. Surgery is the last option.

well i drink atleast 5 glasses of water a day.  I play a lot of sports all the time so i'm kind of used to drinking fluids.  There is no pain at all though.  That's what is bothering me.  that the only thing is that there are small amounts of blood.

Hi JR2313,
A proctoscopy/sigmidoscopy might be helpful.
You need to consult your doctor about doing this test.
