confused husband

by cknaus65, Apr 30, 2008 10:17AM
My husband has had a stroke and water on the brain. I believe the stroke happen in May of 07. I took him to the Dr and the Dr kept telling me it was planters fasciaitis. I moved out of state because I new there was something more wrong. We moved back to MO and went back to his old Dr, He noticed right away something was wrong. Sent for a cat scan and mri. The MRI showed a small stroke on his obcipital lobe and fluid on the brain. He sent us to a Neurologist who order another test to test the pressure of the fluid and sent on over to a neurosurgeon. My husband had a magnetic shunt placed in. His walk got better, wasn't as sleepy as before and not as confused as before.
This was done in Jan of 08, he has had 3 cat scan and a mri. everything came out fine. He shunt had to be readjusted because of the mri and magnet in the shunt.

My question is, He has had 3 different episodes were is confused and doesn't know what is going on were he is at and why we are there. It has happen 2x at home.  I explain were we are why we are there and after about 5 to 10 min he is ok. He still sleep a lot and has short term memory loss.  He mother passed due to Alzheimer at the age of 83. My husband is 56 could he be showing signs of Alzheimer.
